What is your boxing background?

I have been a boxer for 16 years, 7 years of those as a professional. I started as an amateur in Houston Texas when I was 17 years old at a boxing gym called PABA (Progressive Amateur Boxing Association) in 3rd Ward. Moved to San Antonio in 2006 and joined Ramos Boxing Team and have been with them ever since. Total unofficial amateur record of 22 wins- 5 losses. 3 Golden Glove Regional Finals appearances, Ringside World Championships 2x Runner up.

Professional Record 3-0, 1 KO.

What is your Coaching background?

I have always specialized in fitness, cross-training performance for various athletes, and most of all boxing for any level from beginner to professional competition. I can program for any age and for various sports; volleyball, golf, boxing, professional basketball, professional racecar drivers, pro wrestlers, MMA fighters, football players, tennis players and many more… Moreover, I have taken clients ages ranging 5-75 yrs. of age and prepped them for amateur/professional competition in boxing and otherwise. Although I have an extensive resume over the last decade, I love my daily recurring fitness clients. The joy of helping others lose fat, build muscle or prevent/correct chronic conditions never loses its luster.

Who is your favorite past/present fighter(s)?

Muhammad Ali, Pernell Whitaker, Floyd Mayweather

How & why did you become a trainer?

Started off my coaching career by accident. I worked at an insurance company while attending college and I was typically in better shape than most of my colleagues, so I would get requests for diet plans and workouts all the time. I never saw it as a career, so I didn’t charge people for my time, it was just pure fun to help people. Eventually I lost my insurance job after the “housing bubble” and had to figure out a way to make ends meet. Long story short, I eventually found my way into a boxing gym, of an ex-World Champion James Leija. I worked there from 2012-2017, then started my own company, Black Stallion Boxing Plus.

What is your boxing background?

I have been for boxing 16 years, 14 of the years I competed at amateur level. I started boxing at 8 years old and my first sanctioned bout was at 10 years old. Since then I’ve traveled all over Texas to compete in many tournaments and bouts. I’ve lived in San Antonio my whole life and have had the privilege to box at some of the most bonafide boxing gyms such as bam bam boxing club with former world champion John Michal Johnson who sparked my amateur career, also legendary Zarzamora Street Boxing Gym, and most of my amateur career at San Fernando Boxing Club. A gym where the city of San Antonio has helped boxers tremendously.

What is your Coaching background?

I’ve been a coach since 2014 and have gotten real diverse in fitness, from Amateur Boxing to its  strength and conditioning. I’ve taught many young athletes at high levels for different sports such as basketball, football, soccer, baseball, volleyball and gymnastics. I’ve dedicated my last 5 years at BSB+ in training boxing for all levels from beginner to amateur level competition. Proudly I can say two of my amateurs won their first fights and the smile they had is the same smile on each person I train to reach their goals. Boxing is for anyone and my clients range from 5-62 years old who Ive enjoyed teaching the technicality of a new sport along with losing fat, building muscle and in general staying vigorous to prevent/correct chronic conditions.

Who is your favorite past/present fighter(s)?

Past: Floyd Mayweather, Arturo Gatti, and present: Hector Tanajara Jr.

How & why did you become a trainer?

Boxing most of my life I never really saw a fitness class style workout until walking into my family’s gym, former world champion Jesse James Leija. Seeing something like that at a young age where you could teach others what you know and what you’ve been through, I just couldn’t wait to one day be a trainer. As soon as I turned 18 I can never forget the moment a co-owner at another location called me with the offer to start coaching, that’s when it all began! Starting as a trainer I’d have to say I’ve never been more inspired to be one and continue to be a better one. if it wasn’t for our very own, Tony Adeniran of Black Stallion Boxing Plus who’s done it to the upmost standard.

What inspires you to stay in shape?

I’ve been working out since I was 8 years old in the roughest conditions, but besides that being inspiration I’d say my BSB team I’m around daily.

How do you balance a busy training schedule and your personal life?

I balance equally on two things and that’s training others to have a heather and happier life and also me having a happy and healthy life with my family.

What does BSB+ mean to you?

BSB+ to me is everything. Its the place I was finally able to break through barriers in this industry and be my self with no limitations.

What does “NO B.S. NO LIMITS” mean to you?

At BSB+ for me this means no Bull Sh** in the way you apply yourself to train. If you cut out excuses and do everything you think you can’t do then there is no limits especially in boxing

What is your boxing/coaching background?

I’ve been in the fitness industry for 10 plus years, training athletes and individuals with pro to no experience in sports or the gym. I grew up “most athletic” playing every sport such as: Cross Country, Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, Swim, and Football. After graduating high school, I found a passion in Coaching athletes in sport performance skills. I did strength and conditioning clinics for middle and high school’s athletes throughout my undergrad education. Boxing has always been the sport I’ve continued to keep throughout my time as a Semi- Pro Football player and Cross Training Athlete to sustain athleticism. Boxing has been my ground base to not only teach proper breath work, endurance, and consistency, but to master exercises of all physical components and build mental awareness.

How would your clients describe you in 3 words?

Energetic, Motivating, Knowledgeable

After a long day at the gym, what do you look forward to most?

FOOD. A hot shower. I really look forward to sitting down with my dog, Comet, and watching a new movie or show.

What is your favorite cheat meal?

Favorite piece of gym equipment?

Dumbbells. I personally love doing single dumbbell work. It helps prevent muscle imbalance’s and improve movement’s with muscle targeting and isolations.

What inspires you to stay in shape?

Look Good, Feel Good is definitely a thing. Being an athlete all my life, I base my “am I in shape?” off of sports performance: When I do mitt work, run, or a strength workout- my biggest thing is how am I moving, breathing, can I go sustain more rounds without dropping performance.

How do you balance a busy training schedule and your personal life?

I’ve been a zombie before and if there is anything I’ve learned is “time doesn’t care who you are.” Make time for yourself because time won’t make time for you; did you get that? Better yet, in order for you to give 100 to life and those in it (family, friends, loved ones) you got to be 100. With that includes your sense of being- Invest in you, do for you!

Also, I buy a planner 

What does BSB+ mean to you?

Family. A community of trainers and members with the same mission; to create a healthy and active “jab, jab slip” lifestyle.

What does “NO B.S. NO LIMITS”

Once you walk in to those BSB doors, it is no longer about what BULLSHIT you have carrying on your back; but about what you come to work for.

I’ve always said, “never fall victim in life”. Here at BSB there’s no limit to your goals but the work and sweat ethic you put in will determine your achievements.
